Widespread demand for product customization has led to the expansion of utilizing product configurators. Greater flexibility in product design and manufacturing are one of the main parts of the production process that could be impacted with this approach. Mass customization represent a manufacturing approach that combines the adaptability and customization of products with the rational costs of mass production. The aim of the paper is to demonstrate potential mass customization applications using product configurators while outlining benefits and limitations that could occur. Product configurators enable organizations to produce numerous customized items while simultaneously maintaining control over the design and manufacturing processes. On the other hand, customers have an opportunity to select from a variety of features to design a product that is adjusted to their requirements. © 2023 IEEE.
